vans cemetary.

just in case you happen to be wondering...

'where do old shoes go to die... ????'

well, actually, the answer is collingwood...

came across the vans memorial the other day.

poignant.

touching.

luckily for anyone who actually sells vans, i doubt this memorial will fulfill itself...

fishing men.

pictures from a trip to lakes entrance a couple of months ago.

somehow they got lost in the sea of my hard drive.

watching old men fish reminds me of fishing with my grandfather as a child.

4am wake up calls.

and vegemite toast ready at the table for me, cut neatly into quarters.

was worth every cold and and self-pitying moment, for the memories if nothing more...

right hand andy.

a fun little party last week @ right hand in Adelaide.

beer provided by Carlsberg (I know, I  know.... but it was free!!!!)

right hand is one of my favourite stores in Australia.

always something new and interesting from around the world.

a great selection of denim and the one and only Union Special in the country...

engineered garments.

clothes that are engineered rather than designed.

now we're talking.

soon to be available in Australia at a secret (ish) location...

if I didn't enjoy dressing like a homeless prison escapee I would happily dress in Engineered Garments.

men as men...

everyone should have an Irving Penn portrait of their grandfather.

he made artists and literary giants appear craggy yet soft, introspective and full of stories of wild youth.

men as men.

i'm pretty excited about men being men.

not in any soapy roman-bath kinda way.

i just don't think i can handle too much more garishly bright, polyester-clad, razor skinny 'rock' bands infiltrating the consciousness.

we are men.

celebrate.

modern & vintage.

brands around the world struggle to achieve the perilous balance of modern-vintage.

i know it's a challenge.

i know it's hard.

i get that.

but sometimes... just every so often... there are companies, and people, that completely nail it.

here's an example of a product that does it effortlessly, and beautifully.

Assche's to ink.

I don't know the artist, but I spotted Kris Van Assche's ink after seeing a pic of him post-parade, arms raised in gracious thanks...

It's definitely one of the best I've seen - beautiful detail and fine ink-work...

No surprise from this guy, but I'd love to find out who the artist is...

in your place...

Todd Selby's blog is definitely one of my favourites.

his photo's have a great sensibility.

and of course, it's such a voyeuristic treat to peek into the creative physical spaces that some of the world's more interesting people live and work in...

while snooping around I came across a photo that is dear to my digital heart - a nice vintage Casio.

check out some of his other pics of people and places below...

it was no doubt a success.

hopefully more nights like this to come...
