in your place...

Todd Selby's blog is definitely one of my favourites.

his photo's have a great sensibility.

and of course, it's such a voyeuristic treat to peek into the creative physical spaces that some of the world's more interesting people live and work in...

while snooping around I came across a photo that is dear to my digital heart - a nice vintage Casio.

check out some of his other pics of people and places below...

1944's.

the old 44's are in need of a bit of TLC...

i love this jean. very similar fit to the classic 1947 501, but some interesting design details that are unique to that year.

this is the before shot.

the after shot will come soon.

no country..

now and then, you just gotta shut the lid on the macbook and just go...

earlier in the week we did just that.

visited some great people in some cool stores.

lunch @ target, and dinners @ red rooster... don't ask.

good times.

geoff mcfetridge x colab.

one of my faves from the new Colab eyewear collection is the Corbu by Geoff McFetridge.

check it below.

also his artwork for the Where the Wild Things Are juggernaut does the trick too!

rick griffin.

i used to be a pretty mad nut for all the old california surf and poster art.

i think it was the whole levi's connection that first got me into it.

anyway, i look back at the pictures, especially of rick griffin and feel a heap of respect.

these guys were just committed to their art, their surfing and their cars.

the fact that they found some commercial success at the time was merely by chance.

not planned or designed.

i can only imagine that even if they had no success, no money, no commissions from jimi hendrix and the grateful dead... they still would've been holed up scribbling and doodling crazy images in dark corners of their crappy houses... and loving it.

respect.

pants men behold.

you know those days when your jeans stink like a whiskey-soaked sweaty ashtray?

it's those days when I love pants.

pants are my third best friend.

and a splash of paint and grease only make them better.

pics below are of a very rare pair of vintage levi's tab twill chino's (not mine).

go sniffing around your grandfather's garage for a pair.

damir

when you say the name Damir, most of us sheltered young Aussie's will immediately think of that perennially angry retard-monster who fathered a rather talented female tennis player with a fairly unsightly mole.

however...

i do think that Damir Doma is a designer on a level beyond most others.

i wouldn't consider myself a Damir Doma kind of guy - i mean... they probably don't talk much and hardly ever smile... those guys.

but regardless, he has an amazing aesthetic which is completely innovative yet somehow wearable... somehow.

G-Shock Sydney!!

some more pics from the casio G-Shock party last thursday just came through.

enjoy.

bedroom eyes.

i wanted to do a separate post for mister J pease.

now this ain't just all about taking the piss pease.

coz this guy is doing some stuff.

some real stuff.

but I understand now what it takes to get there.

bedroom eyes.

my pants are halfway off...

wow.

peace pease.

the lab store.

right now, benny from the Lab is on the way to the mentawi's.

bitch.

regardless, the kids down there on brunswick street run a smooth-as-ice operation for all things cool.

as a side note also, they are also running the most kickin air-con system in all of fitzroy. was taking refuge from the wave (aka. heat wave) a couple weeks back whilst throwing back a coke and a smile.

they got a sick range of retro Casio and g-shock watches as well as Colab sunnies and heaps of other cool shit from Huffer et al.

if i was a scientist (funny eh??)... this would be my lab.

BOOM!

boaties.

obligatory shoe shot.

a big feather-tickle up to my boy Stu for hooking up a pair of Sperry Topsiders...

the original boat.

last night.

october felt like this...

september felt like this...

us.

'bout time for an introduction i guess...

that's me on the left - i often wear beanies with pom pom's coz thats what I like.

that's T on the right - he sometimes wears a cap.

lower.

lower is sweet yo.

cool shit from kiwi's.

as they say... 'nuff said.

i wanna be in your pocket.

i hate to say it...
it doesn't need to be a comparison...

i know sydney is different.
and it's ok.
i've dealt with it.

but i'm gonna say it anyway -

this is a little piece of Melbourne in Sydney.

Pocket Bar.

I love these little innocuous bars that just kinda of ease their way into a day, and then an afternoon, and then lurch uncontrollably into a fun-filled night falling off milk crates and indulging in many many a damn fine Caipirinha.

well done pocket.

wool and the gang

it's winter in Paris.
surprisingly... in New York also.

down here in Melb's we know that winter = wool.

and right now, there's none better than the global phenom that is Wool and The Gang.

only available online at the moment for us down 'under'... but just imagine wrapping your winter skin in their 'Crazy Sexy Wool' (you gotta say it with a think french accent)...

pure goodness.

incu gentlemen.

a big giddy-up to Vincent and Brian from Incu...

you can have your Oscars and Palm d'Or's,
just give me an award that says I'm a Man of the Year.

well done lads, much deserved.

respect to GQ for actually giving an award to a deserved winner rather than just the guys who spend the most money with the mag.

gshock.

ingredients:
300 cases of Kirin beer.
lots of vodka redbull.
2 wayward Ralph chicks (who let them in ???)
5 smoking hot DJS (3 x Hoops, 1 x M.A.F.I.A, & 1 x Dexter)
about 600 party punks
a bunch of dribbling retail kids
and the godfather of g-shock (Kikuo Ibe)

result?

G-Shock's Shock the World SYDNEY event last Thursday!!

the beach...

sunday night.
elwood beach...
melbourne.

RRL.

for someone who has a little bit of an obsession with all things vintage, RRL is a sensory overload...

The cronies at companies like Levi's and Lee must be hating on the Ralph Lauren crew for essentially ripping off their best denim and workwear from the last 100 years. But hey, who's gonna complain - RRL actually do it better than they could ever hope to!

For vintage Americana, the RRL stores in NYC, LA & the Hamptons are simply without peer.

Pity none of the heritage Aussie brand's have used their impressive history to deliver on such a concept... (Hard Yakka anyone ?!?!?!!)

unkown hipster

i'm giving away 1 secret per month.

take it.
chew it.
spit it out if you will...
devour it.
savour it.

the unknown hipster is a self-deprecating Gallic comic genius.
I know, I know...
makes no sense.

but this guy is so cute I just want to hug him.

and somehow he has the inside scoop on pretty much everything going on in art & fashion.

don't question why it is, just enjoy....

Rag & Bone

when i grow up i'm gonna wear Rag & Bone.

i'm not quite there yet...but when I am, I will be head-to-pink-tickled toe in their gear.

check out pic's of their gear & their store...
